Muppets, Andre the Giant Help Make an Episode of SNL Not Terrible
Mr. Rowles, over at Pajiba, got it partially correct when discussing last night’s Jason Segel-hosted episode of Saturday Night Live. The Muppets were a wonderful addition that overshadowed all the mediocre skits. And the Segel’s impression of Andre the Giant was stellar. But let’s calm down; it never “ looked as though it might go down as one of the rare classic SNLs.” It started out OK — perhaps as good as any of the episodes I’ve seen this year, save for the Charlie Day one — but never seemed like anything to fawn over, even prior to the horrible, horrible post-Update series of sketches, which I really wish I had slept through.
Nevertheless, here is video of Segel doing Andre the Giant.
And after you watch it, be sure to read this piece on the Giant: “The Greatest Drunk on Earth.”

I read the Andre the Giant piece. Great find. One question:
How could Japan be ill-equipped as a nation for a man of the Giant’s size? Isn’t sumo wrestling one of their most cherished traditions?
