Some group of adults thought it would be a great idea for a bunch of little kids to perform Scarface as a school play. I gotta say … I totally agree. Sure beats the fourth grade play we did about Samuel de Champlain exploring the New World. Yes, that seriously happened. Who exactly is Samuel de Champlain?
Samuel de Champlain (c. 1580[2] – December 25, 1635), “The Father of New France”, was a French navigator, cartographer, draughtsman, soldier, explorer, geographer, ethnologist, diplomat and chronicler, who founded Quebec City on July 3, 1608.
What the hell is a draughtsman? More importantly, what were a bunch of eight-year-old Americans doing performing a play about a French Canadian of any sort, let alone a draughtsman?
Regardless, I had the part of a Native American tribal chief, who I belief we were still referring to as an Indian chief back in 1988. It’s hard to remember though. Our teacher made us smoke a ton of peyote for that play.
