I was curious to know if setting up a site such your own: %BLOGURL% is challenging to do for inexperienced people? I’ve been hoping to set up my own website for a while now but have been turned off mainly because I’ve always assumed it required tons of work. What do you think? Thankyou

You conveniently left out where I noted that “I enjoyed” the films on that list. But that aside, I’m saying that it was cool to watch an action flick where I couldn’t pinpoint the exact moment that post-production took over with a thousand quick cuts an CGId movements.

Oh please! All of those movies were better than “HAYWIRE”. You’re entitled to your opinion. But I got the feeling that my intelligence was just insulted by your remark.

I tend to agree for the most part and recently have wondered if I would be more jaded by my viewings had I been paying the full $13 as opposed to the matinee $6.

Regarding story: I’m not sure how much more I really expect from Soderbergh. He’s always been artsy, but Traffic was his most complicated story, and even that was pretty simple, just dolled up with various time lines, locations, and filters. The Ocean’s franchise is great, but gadgets, gizmos, and silliness often whitewash the plot holes. The Girlfriend Experience was more of an exercise in directing impelled by pride, and Contagion, while cool, was really a better shot version of Outbreak.

Overall, I dug Haywire because it’s the first action / kicking ass film in a while that has not been generated primarily in post-production.

Seemed to me to be a collection of really cool fight scenes with no actual story. I can dig minimalism when the pretense is that we’re going to see an exhilarating action film, but I expected a bit more from Soderbergh.

Also had the overwhelming sense that the actors who were trained to fight opposite Carano got more out of the arrangement than Carano got out of being trained to act opposite such a strong cast.

That said, the choreography of the fight/chase/action sequences was dope for how underplayed most of it tended to be. Really played up Carano’s skills rather than dreaming up outlandish stunts.
