Charm is probably the most important part of a story about disintegration. You really have to enthusiastically like something about the people who are losing it in order to connect with their story.

For me…there was something profoundly noble about Gosling’s character saying “I love you so much that I’ll raise another dude’s seed.” I know of instances of that happening in real life. And I’ve met people who have made that choice. But it never stops being impressive to me.

…enjoyed the write up and appreciated the candor about your experience…as far as the film, i tell people it reminded me of revolutionary road and eternal sunshine (but w/out the charm) in how they all show relationships falling apart…good film nonetheless but a tad too long…
